What would Elvis Presley sing if he were alive today? For the answer, check out the "Gravelands" CD (Ark 21) by 31-year-old Belfast postman, James Brown, also known as "The King." The King performs an intriguing selection of songs from deceased rockers/pop singers including Nirvana's "Come As You Are," Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child," Eddie Cochran's "Something Else," and Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York." This CD isn't as playful as Dread Zeppelin's tribute to Elvis/Led Zeppelin/and Reggae, "Un-led-Ed," but The King certainly does a solid job of pulling off this tongue-in-cheek tribute to Elvis Presley. (Special thanks to gravediggers Cory and Rosedale for bringing this CD to Grinny's attention!).
